Really nice place with lovely patterned aesthetic and a friendly atmosphere. My room was simple but clean, the bed was comfortable and everything works fine, including WiFi. The communal toilets and showers are all clean and the hot water works very well (which I was surprised at). The staff are all very friendly and one of them (Youssef) speaks very good English. It's in the Medina so is well located for walking around the city centre. The main thing for me though was that they also offer an 'excursions' service where one of them will personally drive you to any of the main sites in northern Tunisia, for a very reasonable price (the best I've found for solo travellers). For Dougga, for instance, they'll drive you there for €80, compared to €170 I've been quoted by other tour companies for a solo traveller. Youssef is also very flexible and makes an effort to ensure you see everything you want to see. On the whole, would recommend.

Nice location, there are a few small shops near the hostel selling water and sandwiches, wraps ect. The jam and cream cheese and halwa sandwich just down the street was amazing, as were some wraps from a nice lady, and oaja from a store with bowls out front. Fun place to stay and explore the Medina. 35 minute walk down through the Medina to Bab al Bahr and down the main ave to the bus and train terminal Tunis Bahria. 1 dinar for a train of bus to Sidi Bou Saed or La Marsa. Great way to spend the day. Nice staff here and very friendly. Breakfast is very nice, as is the roof patio. Just outside the Medina there there is a bit busier street with fast food restaurants open until later. Above the medina the Qasr al Baladia is a nice place to watch the sun go down

I loved the location, the fact that we had a private toilet and also the wonderful and helpful staff. Huge thanks to Omar, Youseff and Ridas for the amazing hospitality, kindness and everything they’ve done for us, they are ready to help with whatever you need and good recommendations as well, very professional and good communication, they definitely made the difference. The accommodation looks nice, it’s clean and charming. They offer plenty of great tours as well.

This place provides everything you need to feel welcome in Tunis. You can expect features typically found in a home-style boutique hotel rather than luxury hotels. It is clean, comfortable, and charming. The staff are not only warm and welcoming, but they also genuinely care about you. When I returned to the hotel late at night, they even sent someone to accompany me from the taxi to the hotel. I truly appreciated their thoughtfulness.

Dar Ya was a very beautiful place to stay in the heart of the Medina in Tunis. The entrance is a bit hidden, but still easy to find. A quaint small yet pretty place, very clean (the sheets smelled of detergent :D), the staff were quite nice and helpful. The breakfast every morning was delicious. The bathrooms were also clean and the water very hot. The only downside was that the internet did not reach the second floor.
